Convert Text to an MD5 Hash
Convert any text string to a 32-character MD5 hash. Instant, UTF-8 accurate, runs in your browser.
Part of the free MD5 Hash Generator. Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Convert Text to an MD5 Hash
MD5 maps any string to 128 bits written as 32 hex characters. Type the text exactly as the other system will hash it — including spaces and line breaks — or the digests will not match.
Worked example: MD5 of a simple word
Input
hello
MD5
5d41402abc4b2a76b9719d911017c592
Practical tip
MD5 is fine for non-security checksums. Do not use it for passwords, tokens or anything an attacker should not be able to forge.
How to use this MD5 Generator
- 1Use the live tool above — it runs entirely in your browser and never uploads your data.
- 2Paste the sample from the worked example, or use your own input.
- 3Copy the result, then adapt the same steps in your editor, script, or pipeline.
Convert Text to an MD5 Hash FAQs
Is the result lowercase?
Yes by default. Toggle uppercase in the tool if a system expects A–F.
Does MD5 use UTF-8?
This generator hashes UTF-8 bytes, which matches Python hashlib, Node crypto and most APIs.
