Quick answer
To convert XML to JSON online, paste or upload your XML into the KaviForge XML to JSON Converter, choose your JSON indentation size, and click "Convert to JSON". The tool parses nested elements, arrays, booleans, and numbers into clean JSON locally in your browser.
Working with legacy SOAP APIs, RSS/Atom feeds, SAML assertions, or XML configuration files in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python apps is much easier once the XML is converted into JSON.
This converter uses your browser’s native DOMParser to validate and walk the XML tree, reconstructing nested JSON objects, arrays, numbers, and booleans without sending a single byte to a server.
How to Convert XML to JSON Online
- 1Paste your XML markup into the left editor or click "Upload XML" to open an `.xml` file.
- 2Choose your preferred JSON indentation size (2 to 8 spaces).
- 3Click "Convert to JSON" to transform the XML tree into formatted JSON.
- 4Copy the JSON output to your clipboard or download it as `output.json`.

How XML Maps to JSON
Both XML and JSON represent hierarchical trees of data, but XML uses opening and closing tags (`<user><name>Ada</name></user>`) while JSON uses key-value objects (`{"user":{"name":"Ada"}}`).
During conversion, the root and child elements map to JSON keys, text nodes become string/number/boolean values, and repeated or array-typed elements become JSON arrays.
