Generate a Hash From a String

Hash any string with MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 at the same time. Instant, private, in-browser.

Part of the free Hash Generator. Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Generate a Hash From a String

Type a string and every common digest appears at once. That is the fastest way to confirm your code, a database column and a third-party tool all agree.

Worked example: One string, five digests

Practical tip

Watch for a trailing newline. Many files and CLI tools include one, and it changes every hash.

Generate a Hash From a String FAQs

Does the hash include quotes?

Only if you type them. The generator hashes exactly the characters in the box.

UTF-8 or UTF-16?

UTF-8. That matches Python, Node, Go and most APIs. Java’s String.getBytes() needs an explicit UTF-8 charset.
