decodeURIComponent Online
Run decodeURIComponent on any string. Catch malformed % sequences and see the exact JavaScript result.
Part of the free URL Decoder. Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
decodeURIComponent Online
decodeURIComponent is the inverse of encodeURIComponent. It throws if a % is not followed by two hex digits — which is how you find a truncated or hand-edited value.
Worked example: A valid encoded component
Encoded
Ada%20%26%20Linus
Decoded
Ada & Linus
Practical tip
Wrap decodeURIComponent in try/catch. A single trailing % will throw URIError in JavaScript.

decodeURIComponent Online FAQs
What is the difference from decodeURI?
decodeURI expects a full URL and leaves encoded ?, # and & that belong to the structure. decodeURIComponent decodes everything.
Why did decoding throw?
A % was not followed by two hex digits, or the UTF-8 byte sequence was invalid.
